Our mission

A safe roof is where stability starts.

SOS helps families in rural Sierra Leone meet their most essential needs so they can live safely and with dignity. We listen first — and in 2026, families in the Bo District told us, overwhelmingly, what comes first: the roof over their heads.

We listened before we acted.

How we listened · May 19–21, 2026

SOS ambassadors visited Gbaiima, Dodo, and Gbandi 1 & 2 and completed household surveys door to door. No one was selected for support during the visit — the goal was to understand, and to build fair, transparent selection criteria.

What families told us
Top household need (share of 202 households)
Roofing need by village (share of each village’s households)
“Families value transparency and appreciate knowing that selection will be fair, ethical, and free of favoritism.” — SOS 2026 After-Action Report
      ⭐ Raise the Roof Rally

Tile by tile, roof by roof, village by village.

Every rainy season, June to October, families in the Bo District sleep under leaking roofs. Our survey found 152 homes that need a new roof — 52 in Gbandi, 56 in Dodo, and 44 in Gbaiima. This year’s goal: $9,000 for the roofing materials for the first 30 homes, before the rains return. Every tile is $20. Fifteen tiles make a weather-ready roof.

Each house is a home that needs a roof. Tap a tile, tap a house for its whole roof, or use the buttons below — yours light up gold.

      Why Gbandi first?

We rebuild in the exact order of need documented in our SOS survey — the village with the highest share of households asking for roofing goes first. When one village’s board fills, the next one unlocks 🔓.
