Tenki for Born

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 14, 2026

We are a small volunteer-run nonprofit. We collect only what we need to share our work, answer you, and run our programs, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Who we are

Tenki Inc, a Texas nonprofit corporation doing business as Tenki for Born, is a 501(c)(3) public charity (Tax ID 93-3724867). This policy covers www.tenkiforborn.org and Tenki's own Facebook and Instagram integration. Questions about this policy or your information: privacy@tenkiforborn.org. Anything else: contact@tenkiforborn.org.

What we collect, and why

  • Newsletter sign-ups. Your email address, where you signed up, and when. We email you a link to confirm first, and we only use your address to send Tenki updates. Every email lets you unsubscribe.
  • Volunteer and contact forms. Your name, email, phone number if you give it, and what you tell us (roles, availability, your message), so we can reply and coordinate volunteering.
  • Journal comments. The name and comment you post (shown publicly) and your email address (never shown).
  • Spam protection. When you submit a form or a comment we keep a scrambled, one-way code made from your internet address. It can't be turned back into the address; it only lets us slow down repeated automated submissions.
  • Donations. Donations are processed by Givebutter. Your card or bank details go to Givebutter and its payment processors, never to us. Givebutter shares your name, email, the amount and the campaign with us so we can thank you and keep accurate records.
  • Website statistics. We use two tools to see how the site is used, only to improve it — never to identify you or for advertising. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page visits without cookies and without collecting personal information. Google Analytics shows which pages are read and how people find us (for example the page, the type of device, and an approximate location such as the country), and it uses cookies. If you're in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, we ask first, and Google Analytics runs only if you agree.

Donor privacy

Donor information is never sold, shared, or traded with outside organizations for their own marketing purposes, nor do we send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the data protection laws there (the GDPR and UK GDPR) require us to tell you the legal ground for each use of your information:

  • Newsletter, volunteer and contact forms, and comments: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time — unsubscribe from any newsletter email, or email privacy@tenkiforborn.org.
  • Donations: our legal obligations under tax and accounting law, and what is needed to carry out your donation.
  • Google Analytics: your consent, which you can change at any time with the button below.
  • Cookie-free statistics and security (Cloudflare's statistics and our spam protection): our legitimate interest in improving and securing the website.

You also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

Content from other services

Some pages show content hosted elsewhere: videos (Vimeo, YouTube), our Facebook and Instagram feeds, maps and the donation form (Givebutter). When a page loads that content, your browser connects to those services, which may receive your internet address and set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. Note that blocking essential or third-party cookies may prevent embedded tools (like videos or donation forms) from loading correctly.

Our Facebook and Instagram integration

Tenki uses its own Meta app for two things only: to post Tenki's journal stories to Tenki's own Facebook Page and Instagram account, and to read the posts on Tenki's own Facebook Page so they can appear in the journal on this website. It does not collect information about other Facebook or Instagram users, and nobody other than Tenki staff uses it.

Where it's kept and who sees it

Our records are stored with the services that run our website and email: Supabase (our database), Cloudflare (our website, its security and its statistics), Google (our email, and Google Analytics), and Givebutter (donations). Only Tenki staff can see them, behind a sign-in. We don't sell, rent or trade personal information, and we only share it with the service providers above or when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Newsletter addresses stay until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them; sign-ups that are never confirmed may be removed. Volunteer and contact messages are kept while we need them to coordinate with you. Donation records are kept as long as nonprofit record-keeping rules require.

Your choices, and deleting your data

To see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, email privacy@tenkiforborn.org. We'll take care of it promptly, except for records the law requires us to keep, such as donation records. This includes anything connected to our Facebook and Instagram integration.

You can also unsubscribe from any newsletter email, and block or clear cookies in your browser settings (see the note above about embedded videos and donation forms). To change whether Google Analytics may use cookies on this site:

Children

This website is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has sent us information, email privacy@tenkiforborn.org and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
